What to Bring
Packing for your Puerto Vallarta Vacation
FIRST RULE: Pack LIGHT, and leave room for your Puerto Vallarta souvenirs on the way back home!
We can't tell you how many times we've heard a visitor lament "Oh, I wanted it so badly, but my luggage is already jam-packed!" Smart visitors pack a rolled-up, medium-sized duffel bag just so they have the extra space in their luggage if they need it for the return trip!
At least 2 swimsuits. Ladies, don't worry about wearing that two-piece, everyone does.
Casual clothes, like T-shirts and shorts. For the average tourist, there's not much need for dressy clothes. You'll know whether you’re the type to visit fancier restaurants that require dressier clothes. Bring one set of ‘getting dirty’ clothes for adventures you may decide to partake in once you’re here.
Light sweater or sweatshirt for the occasional cool evening.
Swimsuit cover-up. Buy a colorful sarong when you get there, it's the "in thing" for tourist beachwear. You can find beautiful inexpensive 'serapes' all over Puerto Vallarta.
Shoes: Bring a pair for walking, and sandals for the beach, or plan on buying sandals or ‘flip-flops’ here. Remember, much of downtown walking is on cobblestone streets so think comfort.
Sunscreen. Take plenty. Like film, it's a lot more expensive in the tourist areas. Put it on every part of your body. You wouldn't believe how many people we've seen with severely burnt feet, ears, or scalps. Bring a spare T-shirt to wear while snorkeling or swimming. The thin layer of water covering your body will magnify the sun and fry you in only a few minutes! Don't forget something for your lips.
Sunglasses, visor, hats.
Basic Emergency Kit: Band-aids, antibiotic ointment, tweezers, nail clippers, Tylenol, anti-bacterial wipes.
The usual toiletries: Toothpaste, tooth brush, shampoo, deodorant, make up
Collapsible cooler, bottle opener, and koozies if you’re planning on spending a bit of time exploring beaches.
Beach towels: Will be provided. Only bring a towel if you need a special type or size for Yoga on the beach or other exercise.
Large zip-lock bags are great for dirty clothes or wet suits. Also use them for cameras, film and whatever else you don't want sand in.
Snorkel equipment: If you plan on doing any snorkeling, having your own is very nice.
Walkie-talkies, not necessary but handy to have when the spouse or kids wanders off.
Several good books for relaxing on the beach or by the pool.
CD’s a CD player is provided so bring your favorite music to enjoy. We also provide you with bluetooth-enabled speakers and wifi.
